This is my 3rd pair of J-41, but the first in this style. (My previous J-41 were of a Mary Jane style.) This shoe looks pretty cool and I got lots of compliments on them when I wore them with dark skinny jeans. These have an elastic bungee that as far as I can tell, is not adjustable. That was not an issue for me, but if you have really thick feet you might miss being able to adjust J-41 has excellent arch support, have lots of shock absorbing cushion, and have a very rugged sole. I live in TX, so all the mesh is a huge bonus and even on the hottest days, the shoes feel pretty light. (I always wear socks or little no-show skimmer socks.) I have cartilage damage in my knee and if I wear shoes that are not supportive and good at absorbing shock, my knee will become so painful. There are times when I don't want to wear my motion control running shoes (imagine that!), but I still have a fair amount of walking to do. J-41 in every style I've owned have let me wear a lighter shoe while tromping around town all day pain free. I plan to wear these to Disney and know they'll be good. I found this particular pair on sale in my size, which was exciting. I've paid full price for J-41 and have always felt it was worth it.I just bought these shoes to replace the previous pair. These are great shoes - extremely versatile - maybe the most versatile I've ever owned. I've worn them to work and gotten a lot of compliments on them (!), worn them rock hopping at the seashore, and a lot for casual wear. They're lightweight, don't make your feet sweat, have a good sole for light hiking, but are also pretty cute! I find them extremely comfortable and have worn them for several hours walking in urban environments. The only downside is that if anything, I wore them TOO much: Both shoes of the previous pair wore holes on the inside edge, right where the big toe bone is - the fabric frayed in a half-inch horizontal slit on each shoe. I'm not sure if this is a structural issue of the shoes, or of my feet (I haven't experienced wearing in this spot on any of my other shoes). But I don't want to hold this too much against them, since I did really wear the heck out of them - I'd make the rating 4 1/2 stars if it was possible. I like that they come in several different colors - it's a nice subtle touch, and I think the predominant black allows them to go with almost any casual outfit.I originally found these (pink and gray) at a local shoe retailer several years ago and purchases them for an upcoming trip to Aruba. I fell in love with them immediately! Lightweight and breathable, I found them to be great rugged summer sneakers for hikes, walking the dog, etc. They were always comfortable with or without socks. Two pieces of advice: 1) these shoes run SMALL. I wear a true size 10 and with both pairs I've had to get a size 11. 2) Pay attention to the style of shoe based on the color you are ordering; apparently certain colors have a slightly different style than this one.I was bummed not to be able to get the pink and gray again, but I like this new blue-themed color too. Overall I found these shoes to be durable, comfortable, and just what I needed! Can get a little bit tight around the top, but it does come up pretty high and my feet tend to swell sometimes. Length and width wise it is perfect. Very comfortable to wear, lightweight, and washable! Love the fact that the insert comes out, can be washed off with soap and water and put back in. Keeps a shoe that gets worn without socks from developing an odor! Also, the shoe is cute. Will definitely be buying another pair or two of the J-41 Tahoe Walking Shoe! I have some sandals from J-41 also and I am so glad I found them. I order my sneaker size--6.5--not my dress shoe size--which is usually a 7, if that helps.I first saw these shoes when I went to DSW last year. I didn't buy them because I didn't need them at the time (silly me). I went for an excursion here in Monterrey, Mexico where I had to walk over some rocks and I used my converse. Of course, since I wasn't using the appropriate shoes I got really swollen feet by the end of the day. In the summer I had a trip planned in which I was going to be walking in some ancient Maya ruins, and going to some "cenotes" or big, underground water holes in the Yucatan peninsula. These shoes are survivors! They are super comfy and my feet didn't hurt and I used them in the water, soil, sand, dirt, and nothing happened to them! I would buy another pair for next year. These shoes are very nice & comfortable. You can wear them all day.. I haven't worn them too much as of yet, because since I got them our weather changed & I have been needing the J-41 boots I bought right now instead of shoes. I really like them. I take a size 6 & ordered a 6 & they fit fine. Only reason I gave them a 4 star rating is because, again, they are made in China. Would like to see them made in USA!!The shoes are roomy enough and are comfortable to wear all day, but the heel rubbed for the first few minutes. It is as though you need to walk a few steps and wiggle your foot around to be properly seated in them. Then, they are fine. Also, since they do not open or lace up and yet fit like a shoe that would be...they are a little tight to pull on. A tab at the heel would have helped. Otherwise, they are sturdy, supportive and attractive.BEWARE...Different colors are DIFFERENT MODELS OF SHOES...be careful when ordering because I ordered one color that I liked but got the "trail ready" shoe when I really wanted was "water ready". Half seem to be trail ready which are a heavier shoe and half seem to be water ready. I went ahead and returned the pair I just received an ordered the water ready because that is what I have worn in the past and have really liked.
